Where True Economic Development Begins
Business Connection Point is a radio program presented by the Akers & Associates, Inc. Strategic Alliance for
Emerging Small Business (SafeSB™) to highlight small business success stories along with the people, processes
and organizations that are helping to make entrepreneurial dreams come true.
The goal of Business Connection Point is to provide an informative, educational and entertaining show that will
engage the audience to:
Get involved with economic development where they live.
Support local small business initiatives.
Implement ideas from the show to grow their own businesses and careers.
The inaugural season of Business Connection Point includes 26 editions that will share successes from the Clark
County Business Opportunity and Workforce Development (BOWD) program, where the SafeSB™ small business
capacity building concept is yielding tremendous results. Each edition of the show will also include news and
information designed to enlighten, empower and inspire current and aspiring entrepreneurs.
Listeners will benefit from:
Interviews with business and government leaders including County officials, small business mentors and other
stakeholders in Nevada’s small business and economic development efforts;
Success stories resulting from strategic partnerships, mentor activities, joint ventures including job creation;
Current events and economic trends affecting our local small business community.
Financial updates on traditional and non-traditional funding for small firms, as well as accounting, tax tips and
money management pointers for entrepreneurs and professionals.
Dream Board, a segment in which entrepreneurs share successes, failures and suggestions for others seeking to
succeed in business.
“Pay It Forward” segments featuring organizations and individuals who go above and beyond the call of duty to
enhance the community.
Work/Life segments providing tips on how to increase productivity, employee morale and quality of life by
facilitating balance, improving communication and promoting wellness in the workplace.
ABOUT JUANA HART
Former television news anchor and reporter Juana Hart is a business communication consultant and president of
J-Hart Communications in Las Vegas, Nevada. She works with organizations seeking to engage employees, clients
and the public more effectively to increase visibility, credibility, buy-in and revenues. She has worked on both
sides of the camera and both sides of business through a myriad of challenges, such as caring for eight children
and surviving breast cancer.
Juana launched her career as a radio and television news anchor for KTSM (NBC) in El Paso, Texas, moving on to
become an award-winning host and producer of Insights at KDFW-TV (CBS) in Dallas. She also spent a few years
on the other side of the camera as regional public information officer for the Texas Department of Human Services.
In that role she was responsible for employee communications, community relations and served as media
spokesperson regarding legally charged, controversial issues such as welfare fraud, elder abuse and a highly
publicized daycare sex abuse scandal.
She co-produced and anchored Nevada's first live, morning television newscast on KLAS (CBS) before anchoring
afternoon and evening programs and the popular Straight from the "Hart" franchise honoring outstanding workers
and community servants.
After leaving news, she produced and hosted independent television shows--On the Move and Business Connection,
which aired on PBS-Vegas. As vice president of administration and marketing at Las Vegas-based B.I.P. Software,
Inc. she participated in the company’s expansion to include government and private sector clients from Alaska to
Florida.
In 2011 Juana was a finalist for NAWBO-Southern Nevada’s Women of Distinction Award in the Public Relations
and Communication category, and a finalist for Small Business of the Year for the Urban Chamber. She has received
numerous awards and honors including: Distinguished Women of Nevada, Outstanding Achievement Award-UPI
Broadcasters, Katie Award for Best Public Affairs Program, Outstanding Young Women of America, Leadership El
Paso and a variety of community service awards.
She earned a BBA in marketing from the University of Texas at El Paso, lives in Las Vegas, Nevada where she reared
